Carlos Ramayo, president of the Pork Producers Association in the Yucatan state of Mexico said the country wishes to export pork to Vietnam, China and some European countries this year.
The association recently signed an agreement to export 2,500 tonnes of pork to Japan and the Republic of Korea.
The association boasts of 340 farms raising about 1.2 million pigs every year. Pig breeders in the Yucatan state exported 10,000 tonnes of pork last year, and they expect to increase the figure to 15,000 tonnes by the end of this year.
