Belgium’s Flemish region will provide 3 million EUR in non-refundable aid for Vietnam to implement projects on tertiary education, agricultural promotion and banking training from 2008-2010.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed in Hanoi on July 6 by representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and Belgium's Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance (WOB).

MPI Deputy Minister Cao Viet Sinh said at the signing ceremony that the MOU marked a new step of cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium as well as between Vietnam and the Flemish region. He said Flemish organisations have so far provided Vietnam with nearly 15 million EUR in non-refundable aid, mainly focusing on education, training and agro-fishery promotion.
