The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations has made a plan on organising three big events in the third quarter of this year to welcome the APEC Ministerial Meeting, scheduled to take place in Hanoi in November.
The events include a culture and sport friendship festival, a contest for Vietnamese and international students to learn about APEC and an exhibition on the cultural, social and economic aspects of APEC members.
The Union co-ordinated with the Health Department, the Canadian Embassy and the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association to organise the 2006 Terry Fox Marathon to raise funds for Hanoi Tumor Hospital’s research activities.
In addition, other friendship associations, international organisations and oversea Vietnamese communities have actively responded to the contest entitled “Hanoi - Rendez vous” in 2006. The awards ceremony of the contest is expected to be held in October.
