Vietnam sends two films to int’l festival

Two Vietnamese films “Thien menh anh hung” (Blood Letter) and “Dam me” (Passion) will compete at the Hanoi International Film Festival 2012 to be held in the capital city from November 25-29.

The information was released by the Vietnam National Cinema Agency (VNCA) in Hanoi on November 1, according to Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper.

VNCA Director Ngo Phuong Lan said that the two films were selected from the eight Vietnamese entries, which were initially proposed for competition at the festival.

“Thien menh anh hung”, directed by Vietnamese-American Victor Vu, made public in January 2012. The movie tells a story of Nguyen Vu, a paternal grandson of the national hero Nguyen Trai, and his journey to find the truth of the injustice his family had to suffer and take revenge on those who got involved in the conspiracy.

Meanwhile, director Phi Tien Son’s Dam Me (Passion) depicts the quest of each member of a family to achieve their dreams. The film was completed in late October.
