The Ho Chi Minh City Economics Institute on May 19 launched a programme to provide information on international economic integration for over 400 businesses in the city and neighbouring provinces.

Dr. Tran Du Lich, the institute's director, spoke of the World Trade Organisation (WTO)'s basic functions and operation regulations. He also analysed the opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese businesses when the country becomes a WTO member.

To raise their competitiveness in the integration process, the enterprises should focus on improving their comprehensive management capacity and training high-quality human resources, he said.
Vietnam now has some 150,000 businesses, which are mainly small- and medium-sized.
