Motorola announced that it has won contracts worth US$28 million with Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) Group to expand the VinaPhone GSM network in southern provinces.

It was Motorola’s third GSM network expansion project with VinaPhone in less than a year, the US-based mobile communication firm said.

According to Motorola, they will provide network equipment, software and services to expand the GSM network for VinaPhone, a subsidiary of VNPT, to cover suburban and rural areas.

VinaPhone currently provides coverage in 63 provinces and cities and has links with mobile operators in more than 60 countries and territories.
