On May 6, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Mitsuo Sakaba, visited Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV) on the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.

At a reception for the Japanese diplomat, VOV General Director Vu Van Hien thanked him for visiting VOV and exchanged views on how both countries’ media sectors could work better together.

Mr Mitsuo said he would be happy to see VOV work alongside Japanese broadcasters at the Great Music Festival to be launched in Hanoi and HCM City on May 24-26.

VOV is Vietnam’s unique media agency, having a video image radio channel, online and printed newspapers and audio-broadcasting, which attract a large number of listeners and readers in both countries and the world, including Japanese broadcast programme, said Mr Hien.

Mr Mitsuo said that in recent years, remarkable progress has been achieved in Vietnam-Japan relations as their exchanges on politics and economics have proved effective. He also hoped that bilateral relations in diplomacy and the media will be enhanced in the near future to help people from both countries, particularly younger generations to increase mutual understanding.

Vietnam and Japan should further strengthen bilateral relations as both countries have many similarities and VOV wants to cooperate more closely with Japan’s NHK News Agency, Mr Hien said.
