Quang Nam: Biggest-ever amount of explosive seized

Police in central Quang Nam province on July 30 seized 80 kilogrammes of high power explosive being illegally transported by a local man on Highway 1A across Tam Ky city of the province.

It was the biggest amount of illegal explosive discovered by the local police to date.

A further 59 kilogrammes of explosive was found during a police search of his home later.

The province’s police also arrested five other for allegedly trading in nearly three tonnes of explosive materials, 7,000 electric detonators and 1,500 metres of electric wire in mid-June.

They included Pham Phong, born in 1952; Nguyen Thi Thu, born in 1969; Nguyen Huu Hai, born in 1967; Nguyen Van Khu, born in 1971; and Doan Bich Thuy, born in 1973. All are from Quang Nam province, except for Phong who was from neighbouring Da Nang city.
