Vietnam's relations with Czech, Slovakia under review

(VOV) -The Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) in Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam-Czech and Vietnam-Slovakia friendship associations co-hosted a ceremony on January 31 reviewing relations and cooperation between Vietnam with the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In his statement, HUFO President Le Hung Quoc said Vietnamese people always b bear in mind and greatly value valuable support from governments of the Czech Republic and Slovakia have provided for Vietnam over last decades. 

Over the last 65 years, friendship and all-sided cooperation between Vietnam and the two nations have grown steadily, prominently evidenced by the signing of numerous cooperation agreements. 

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Vietnam Martin Klepetko extolled the outstanding results in the bilateral diplomatic ties over the last 65 years, noting that his country will work together with Vietnam to elevate their relations to a higher level, principally in economics, politics, and culture. 

Slovakian Ambassador to Vietnam Igor Pacolak said he hopes Vietnam-Slovakia ties will be further promoted at all levels. 

He revealed that his country will accelerate the implementation of economic and cultural projects in Vietnam in the time ahead, aiming to upgrade the Vietnam-Slovakia relations in to a comprehensive strategic partnership in the future. 

The Czech Republic is one of regular official development assistance (ODA) providers for Vietnam. Export-import turnover in 2014 reached US$294 million.

Meanwhile, Slovakia is Vietnam’s second largest trade partner and important investor in Central and Eastern Europe. Total export-import turnover between the two countries hit more than US$ 309 million. Slovakia has so far poured US$305 million into Vietnam’s projects.
