Carnival Ha Long to take place on April 30

(VOV) - Distinctive cultural identities of ethnic minority groups in Quang Ninh province, San Chay, San Chi and Dao, will be spotlighted at street festivals during Carnival Ha Long 2014.

The programme will take place on Hoang Quoc Viet Street in Hung Thang Ward, Ha Long City, from 8pm to 9.30pm on April 30.

Themed “Quang Ninh – Convergence and Pervasion”, Ha Long Carnival 2014 will include a wide range of activities: Carnival parade, art performances, and firework displays, with the participation of more than 3,800 actors and actresses from Vietnam, China, Thailand and Laos.

Artists will show off the special cultural identities of each region and promote tourism sites, such as Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu Pagoda, Van Don Border Gate and Mong Cai.

The Carnival is held with the aim of honouring Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-recognised as World Natural Heritage Site, as well as promoting tourism potential of Quang Ninh.
