Nguyen Thi Lua will take on Olympic defending champion Carol Huynh, a Vietnamese Canadian athlete, in the first round for wrestler under 48kg.

It is a huge challenge to Vietnam’s only hopeful wrestler, and if she outperforms Carol, she will clash against Eshimova, another strong opponent from Kazakhstan, in the following round.

According to experts, if Lua loses to Carol, her only hope will lie in the Vietnamese Canadian athlete’s clashes.

If Carol enters the final game, Lua will have the chance to compete for a bronze medal in a play-off round against one of the following wrestlers: Sakamoto from Japan, Mezien from Tunisia, Kaladzinskaya from Belarus, and Sambou from Senegal.

Nineteen wrestlers will take part in the 48kg weight category competition.

The Lua vs Carol clash is due to take place at 12.00 (GMT) on August 8.

In another competition at 11.45 (GMT), Vietnamese Taekwondo martial artist Le Huynh Chau will be tested in the 58kg weight category.

He will play Asian Games gold medalist Wei Chen Yang from Taiwan (China) in the first round.

Chau used to outclass this martial artist at a recent Asian tournament, and the coaching board pins high hopes on another win for him.

However, it will not be an easy task for the Vietnamese athlete to win a medal as all 8 seeded opponents are very strong.
