Vietnamese leaders on December 1 sent greetings to their Lao counterparts on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the National Day of Laos (December 2).

The well-wishers were Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong. The recipients were Lao Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh and National Assembly Chairman Thongsing Thammavong.

In their message, the Vietnamese leaders expressed pleasure at the on-going development of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

They also expressed joy at the fruitful development of economic, trade and investment cooperation, describing it as a foundation for further bolstering relations between the two nations in future. They praised the seminar on the special ties between Vietnam and Laos held this year, which contributed to helping youths from the two countries better understand the importance of their relationship.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem extended his congratulations to his Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith.
