Can Tho targets 1,3 million tourists for 2014

(VOV) -The Mekong Delta City of Can Tho expects to attract 1.3 million tourists this year and increase tourism revenue by 13.4%.

According to Municipal Culture, Sports and Tourism Department Deputy Director Dang Thai Hoa, Can Tho plans to promote tourism activities, diversify ecological and cultural tours and organise seminars to meet visitor demands.

The city will also expand eco-tours in the locality and other Mekong Delta provinces. It will co-operate with An Giang and Kien Giang provinces to establish a tourist triangle, developing river, island and mountain tourism services.

Can Tho will complete infrastructure upgrade at more than 20 eco-tourism parks covering an area of nearly 300 hectares, and develop environmentally friendly tourism models on the Cai Rang floating market and other tourist sites.

The city has encouraged various economic sectors to involve in building 165 hotels with nearly 4,000 rooms and 6,000 beds and many resorts near the Hau River.

Last year, Can Tho welcomed 1.48 million tourists, including 250,000 foreigners, earning VND953 billion.
