Enterprises in the southcentral province of Binh Dinh earned a total of US$316 million from exports in 2007, an increase of 29.6 percent from the previous year.

The province has set a target of earning US$360 million from exports in 2008 by encouraging all economic sectors to enhance their capacity of production as well as their quality of exports, especially those with advantages in the market.

Binh Dinh is now home to 118 enterprises whose products are shipped to more than 50 countries and territories worldwide. They include 16 state-owned enterprises, 97 joint ventures and five foreign-invested enterprises.

On January 2, the local people’s committee granted an operation license to an export textile project worth US$1.2 million in Quy Nhon City.

Hwarung Vietnam Textile Plant is expected to manufacture 1.5 million shirts and 525,000 pairs of trousers for export annually, employing 520 workers.
