Vietnam women grab Asian championship berth

VOV.VN - Vietnam has qualified for the Asian Women’s Football Championship after topping Group D standings in the qualification round. The team defeated Myanmar 2-0 on April 11 to grab the only ticket to the competition, which will be held in Jordan next year.

Myanmar who is known for their strong physique tried to dominate their hosts, who stuck to counter-attacking.

Both sides created several chances but none could convert them to make the opening goal in the first half.




In the second half, coach Mai Duc Chung of Vietnam changed the tactic to create more chance of attack for his team. His players made consecutive attempts.


Finally, corner-kick expert Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung opened the account for Vietnam 10 minutes after the interval.







In the 82nd minute the national Golden Ball winner Huynh Nhu (No 19) made it 2-0 from a close-range tap-in.

Vietnam led Group D with four wins, scoring 27 goals and suffered only one loss.
