The Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee has announced that a series of activities will be held to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Tet General Offensive (January 30, 1968).

Accordingly, the Defence Ministry will coordinate with the central province of Thua Thien Hue to organize a workshop on the event.

The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee will join the Defence Ministry and the Central Commission for Information and Education to host a national-level meeting in the city.

Meanwhile, get-togethers and talks on the event will be held in provinces and cities nationwide.

According to the Secretariat, the 1968 Tet General Offensive marked an important turning point in the country’s resistance war against the US invaders. It smashed the enemy’s “local war” scheme and drove the US to come to a negotiating table with Vietnam in the lead up to the end of the war.
