The Hanoi Municipal Association for Sponsoring the Disabled and Orphans held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 26 to mark International Day for Persons with Disabilities (December 3) and the association’s 15 years of operation.

Addressing the event, the association’s Chairman Dinh Hanh affirmed the human significance of the Day and the Party and State’s support for the care of the disabled and orphans.

More than VND400 million was raised by enterprises and social organizations at the ceremony to assist them.

In the past 15 years, the Hanoi Municipal Association for Sponsoring the Disabled and Orphans raised more than VND12 billion for the handicapped, presented them with 2,500 wheelchairs and 1,100 bicycles, and help mend more than 100 dilapidated houses for them.

It also assisted 430 orphans, and provided tonnes of rice for orphans, free cataract surgery on 520 patients, and free medical cards for over 3,000 poor people with disabilities.
