The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Australian Government will provide non-refundable technical aid worth US$1.3 million to the Mekong River Delta region to cope with the impact of climate change.

The project will help Vietnam assess climate change threats to the region and prepare necessary steps to deal with rising sea levels and floods.

Kien Giang and Ca Mau are the two coastal provinces that have been chosen to carry out further research. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will put the project into operation from January, 2010 to April, 2011.
