Vietnam and Bulgaria should strengthen co-operation in commerce, trade and investment in line with their friendly political relations, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An told visiting Bulgarian parliamentarians in Hanoi on March 23.

At a reception for Vassil Todorov Kalinov, chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly’s Agriculture and Forestry Committee, Mr An said Bulgaria could exchange experiences with Vietnam regarding economic transformation and implementing social policies.

He said he hopes that Bulgaria will help Vietnam integrate into the European market and that Vietnam is willing to help Bulgaria penetrate Southeast Asian markets.

“Vietnam, as a member of ASEAN, ASEM and APEC, and ready to join the WTO, will offer favourable conditions for developing bilateral relations,” said Mr An.

‘He urged the two countries to co-ordinate in international forums and to increase the number of high-ranking visits and parliamentary exchanges to share experience in lawmaking and implementation.

Mr Kalinov told Mr An that his visit aims to strengthen friendship and co-operation with Vietnam, especially in in fields within the scope of his committee. He said he is impressed at seeing the economic achievements and social stability of Vietnam and hopes that the two countries will continue to co-operate in the future.
