Four more gold medals for Vietnam at SEA Games

(VOV) -Vietnamese athletes secured further success for their country after clinching four more gold medals on December 16 in track-and-field, archery, rowing and cycling at the ongoing SEA Games in Myanmar.

The gold medalists were Pham Thi Binh in the women’s marathon event, Nguyen Tien Cuong in the men’s 50m archery, Le Thi An and Tran Thi Sam on the women’s double rowing event, and Mai Nguyen Hung, Trinh Duc Tam, Le Van Duan and Nguyen Thanh Tam in the men’s team 100m cycling.

Pham Thi Binh

In the women’s double rowing, Vietnamese duo Pham Thi Thao and Pham Thi Hai won a silver medal.

Weight-lifter Tran Van Hoa also bagged a silver medal for Vietnam in the men’s 94kg category.

Nguyen Tien Cuong

Another silver medal was won by male rowers Nguyen Dinh Huy, Duong Thanh Binh, Pham Minh Chinh and Nguyen Van Linh.

In the sepak takraw event, Vietnamese athletes secured a bronze medal after losing to rivals Myanmar and Thailand.

Vietnam is currently ranking second, only to Thailand, in the 27th SEA Games’ medal tally, with 40 gold, 34 silver, and 42 bronze medals. The host nation Myanmar is currently ranking third.

Nguyen Thi Anh Vien

The Vietnamese sporting delegation is hopeful their outstanding swimmers Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, Hoang Quy Phuoc, Phan Lam Yen and Phan Gia Man will also achieve gold medals after qualifying for the finals.
