COVID-19: Three returnees from Angola infected, Vietnam has 1,148 cases
VOV.VN - Three Vietnamese returnees from Angola have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,148, the Ministry of Health said in its 18.00hrs bulletin October 22.
The three people took flight VN8 from Angola to Vietnam on October 20 and were quarantined after the plane landed at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh, northern Vietnam.
They all tested positive on October 22 and are now receiving treatment at the Bac Ninh provincial General Hospital and Hanoi-based hospital of Tropical Diseases, according to the Ministry of Health.
Earlier in the morning of the same day, a returnee from Angola was also confirmed to carry the virus.
As of 18.00hrs October 22 Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,148 locally transmitted and imported coronavirus cases. As many as 1,049 patients have fully recovered from the disease and have been discharged from hospital.
The death toll caused by the disease and related illnesses remains unchanged at 35.
The country has gone through 50 consecutive days without a single new community infection.
