India targets 900,000 Southeast Asian tourists in 2016
Some 900,000 Southeast Asian tourists are expected to visit India in 2016, a 15% increase compared to last year.

According to RK Suman, Assistant to the Director at India Tourism Office in Singapore, the expected surge stems from the introduction of e-Visa and promotional campaigns in the region.
Last year, more than 754,000 Southeast Asian people visited India, he said.
India’s tourism was promoted in seven out of 10 countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the country is planning to expand introduction to Cambodia, Laos and Brunei this year.
Southeast Asian tourist traffic to India has significantly increased to 685,805 in 2014 from 540,910 in 2012 and 628,955 in 2013.
The country welcomed 8 million holiday-makers in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%.
