President Sang hails flourishing Vietnam-Russia ties

(VOV) -State President Truong Tan Sang applauded the strengthened time-honoured relationship between Vietnam and Russia after both sides set up a comprehensive strategic partnership with a high level of political trust at a December 7 reception in Hanoi for Governor of Saint Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko.

President Sang glowingly spoke about Saint Petersburg’s economic strengths and its efforts enhance links with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other localities.

As an economic, tourism and cultural centre of Russia, Saint Petersburg should fully tap cooperation with its Vietnamese partners in line with senior leaders'expectation, Sang told his guest.

Governor Poltavchenko in turn applauded the time-tested relations between Russia and Vietnam as well as between Saint Petersburg and Vietnamese localities, adding that this year's 10th anniversary of twin relationship between Saint Petersburg and HCM City would be an opportune occasion for both sides to further push economic ties between the two cities.

Russian enterprises are due to attend a business forum with their local counterparts to seek partnerships in the fields of energy, hi-tech industry and healthcare, he said, noting that Saint Petersburg wants to attract more visitors from Ho Chi Minh City in the future.
