This has been the 8th year since the Action Month was launched to call on the entire people to actively prevent lethal diseases due to food poisoning and control food contamination.

The Ministry of Health and the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee launched the Month of Action for Food Hygiene and Safety in Hanoi on April 8, drawing the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem and representatives from the central agencies and sectors and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

This has been the 8th year since the Month of Action was launched to call on the entire people to actively prevent lethal diseases due to food poisoning and control food contamination.

Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Minister of Health Trinh Quan Huan said despite recording positive changes in the community’s awareness about the need to observe regulations on food hygiene and safety, this remains a burning issue in Vietnam. The country is currently coping with many dangers such as environmental pollution, water shortages and changes in farming practice which lead to the use of different kinds of chemicals to protect and stimulate plants. Therefore, “Preventing food contamination” was selected by the Ministry of Health as a topic of the month of action for food hygiene and safety, Mr Huan added.
