The US has presented Vietnam with customs inspection equipment worth US$91,000 to help the country strengthen its capacity in preventing nuclear materials smuggling across its borders.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Marine handed over the equipment to the General Department of Customs and Border Guard Force on March 1.

"It is our hope that this equipment will assist your agencies in the more effective performance of a task that is a vital link in the overall effort to block illegal transit of controlled materials", Mr Marine said at the ceremony.
