The Vietnam-China Friendship Association held a meeting in Hanoi on September 25 to celebrate China’s 58th National Day (October 1).

Association President Doan Manh Giao highlighted China’s achievements in socio-economic development over the past year, particularly its complete preparations for the 17th National Party Congress scheduled to open in Beijing on October 15. He also praised China’s preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as well as its rapid and stable economic growth.

Mr Giao and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hu Qianwen expressed their belief that Vietnam-China relations will further develop in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, culture, education and people-to-people exchanges under the motto of “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability and looking towards the future.”

The same day, the Chinese Ambassador hosted a reception to mark the event.
