International arrivals up 17.8 percent after four months

International arrivals to Vietnam increased 17.8 percent against the same period last year to reach 3,248,634 at the end of April, according to General Statistics Office (GSO) figures.

In April, the country welcomed 789,484 foreign visitors, with 661,484 of them arriving by air, 13,569 by sea and 114,431 by land. 


Hong Kong (China) tops the list of countries and territories with the fastest growth of visitors to Vietnam with a boom of 143.3%, followed by China at 47%, the Republic of Korea 30.2%, Italy 29.2%, Sweden 27.1% and England 23%. 

In the same period, the number of local tourists was about 22.8 million. 

Total tourism revenue from the beginning of this year has amounted to VND135,796 billion (US$6 billion), an increase of 19.6%.
