The northern province of Hung Yen should fully tap its potential to boost socio-economic development and strive to increase the proportion of industrial production and services in its GDP to nearly 50 percent in the coming years, says Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

Mr Manh made the statement during his working visit to the province on April 13-14. He praised the remarkable achievements made by the provincial Party Committee and people during the past 10 years since it was separated from former Hai Hung province and in implementing resolutions of the national and provincial Party congresses.

“While restructuring its economy, the province is paying attention to agricultural production by reserving an adequate acreage of land for food production to ensure national food security,” Mr Manh told provincial Party and administration leaders.

Acknowledging its efforts in developing industrial parks and export processing zones, the Party leader reminded the province to better carry out the planning work and deal with land clearance, compensation and resettlement for local people living in construction sites.

“Local people should be guided how to effectively use their compensation to develop and expand production. Local authorities should keep a close watch on employees’ living conditions at industrial parks, particularly the building of houses for them,” said Mr Manh.

He asked the provincial Party Committee to pay special attention to the Party building work to strengthen the combative spirit and leadership capacity of its Party organisations.

“To do this, it is imperative to bring into full play the spirit of criticism and self-criticism and heighten the pioneer role of each Party member,” said Mr Manh.

During his stay, Mr Manh visited several economic establishments and presented gifts to families of social policy beneficiaries in the province.
