Foreign partners have actively contributed to charity activities in Vietnam, emphasised State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan at a conference held in Hanoi on August 28 by the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Vietnam’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (VCCI).

Vice President Doan expressed thanks to both local and foreign partners for their assistance in conducting many charity projects which have helped improve living conditions for people, especially the poor, the disabled, and Agent Orange victims.

Ms Doan added that the conference is very necessary for the Red Cross Society, the VCCI and partners to share experiences and review charity activities in recent times. She affirmed that the Party and State have always created favourable conditions for partners to promote their charity activities.

At the conference, the Red Cross Society introduced 28 charity projects aimed at preventing disasters, improving people’s health and providing social relief from now until 2015 and called for assistance from foreign partners.

From 2002-2007, foreign partners helped the Society implement 80 projects in 61 cities and provinces with a total funding of nearly US$40 million.
