Various cultural activities took place on May 19 in many countries around the world, including Russia and Thailand, to mark the 116th birth anniversary of the late President Ho Chi Minh.

In Thailand, celebrations were held in many places, particularly the inaugural ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh historical and education relic area in Nong Hang village in Udon Thani where President Ho Chi Minh used to live and work in 1928. The relic area project was implemented by Udon Thani authorities and overseas Vietnamese people in Thailand in an attempt to strengthen the fine relations between the two countries in general and between overseas Vietnamese and Thai people in particular.

The same day, a ceremony with many traditional rites was also held in the Thai-Viet Friendship Village in Na-khon-pha-nom, north-eastern Thailand, to mark Uncle Ho’s birthday. Many overseas Vietnamese people attended the event.

In Moscow, Russia, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, in co-ordination with the Moscow Institute of Economics and Law and the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, held a ceremony to introduce a newly published book entitled “Soviet Union – an unforgettable world” as part of many activities in celebration of President Ho Chi Minh’s 116th birth anniversary. The over 500-page book features the memories of more than 20 Russian experts who worked in Vietnam in different periods of time. The book aims to help readers understand more about the history of the Russia-Vietnam traditional friendship and relations. It is also considered a textbook on external relations education for Russian students and younger generations.
