Tet get-togethers for Vietnamese in Egypt, Canada
(VOV) - The Vietnamese embassy in Cairo hosted a Lunar New Year (Tet) get-together on January 18 for Vietnamese nationals residing and working in Egypt.
Ambassador Dao Thanh Chung reiterated the Vietnamese Party and State policy of considering Vietnamese communities abroad an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation.
He noted despite the complex Egyptian situation, representative Vietnamese missions, as well as Vietnam News Agency and the Voice of Vietnam Bureaux have fulfilled their tasks.

He expressed hope the designated agencies will devise practical plans of action in 2014 to contribute to furthering friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Delegates drank a toast to people’s health in the new year, sampled traditional Tet dishes and enjoyed performances by Vietnamese diplomats and students in Cairo.
The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada hosted a Tet banquet for Vietnamese residents in the country.
Ambassador To Anh Dung reviewed Vietnam’s major developments in 2013 and stressed the government creates the best possible conditions for Vietnamese residents abroad to preserve national identity and turn their hearts to the homeland.
Vu Thang, representative of the compatriot association of Haiphong city, handed over CAD3,500 in support of people living in natural disaster-hit areas.
