Tran Luong receives Prince Claus Award

(VOV) -Vietnamese artist and curator Tran Luong has received a prestigious Prince Claus Award for his outstanding art works, contribution to developing video arts in Vietnam and enriching the community and nurturing younger generations.

Luong will make a speech on his contributions to the development of the arts in northern Vietnam at Auditorium AKV St. Joost, Onderwijsboulevard 256, Den Bosch on December 11.

Other laureates come from India, Turkey, Guatemala, Chile, Brazil, the Philippines, Indonesia, Colombia, and Nigeria.

To share and celebrate outstanding works of the laureates, performances, film shows and discussions in the framework of the ‘Culture in Action: Prince Claus Awards Week’ are open to the public from December 7 to 12.

The Prince Claus Awards are presented annually to individuals and organisations in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean for their outstanding achievements in the field of culture and development and the positive effect of their work on their direct environment and the wider cultural or social field.

The prizes include one Principal Prince Claus Award of €100.000 and ten Prince Claus Awards of €25.000.

In addition to the awards, The Prince Claus Fund is also a well-known supporter of numerous arts and cultural projects worldwide.

A number of Vietnamese projects and exhibitions which were benefited from it included “One Planet” by Nguyen Manh Hung, “Nha Tay Transforms” by Nguyen The Son and Tran Hau Yen The, “The Broken Chapters” by Nguyen Tran Nam, the multiplex project of contemporary art “Skylines With Flying People”, and the photograph book of photographer Quang Phung “Around the Hoan Kiem Lake”.
