The government of Japan has provided nearly US$162,000 in non-refundable aid to help implement projects to build infrastructure in two districts in the northern province of Cao Bang.

Addressing the signing ceremony in Hanoi on August 26, Japanese ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba stated that the Japanese-funded projects will help improve infrastructure and education quality in the province.

Of the aid, nearly US$89,000 will be used to build a suspension bridge in Mong An commune, Bao Lam district to facilitate the transport of goods and travel of local people as well as strengthening economic activities among hamlets in the region.

The remaining US$73,000 will be used to build a primary school in Ma Ba commune, Ha Quang district to replace the current one which has become seriously degraded.

Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) accounts for 30 percent of the total donors’ committed ODA for Vietnam annually, making it one of the country’s leading bilateral donors.
