Asia’s police exhibition and conference opens in Malaysia

Delegates from police and security forces of ASEAN member states and some other Pacific Asia nations are gathering in the 4th General Police and Special Equipment Exhibition & Conference Asia (GPEC Asia 2015) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Vietnamese delegation is led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Thanh.

In the opening ceremony on October 21, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said GPEC Asia is a high-level forum for police officers, security experts and policy-makers of the region to exchange ideas and practical experience as well as strengthen cooperation in combating transnational crimes and terrorism.

This year’s event also introduces the most current technologies and innovations in response to homeland security requirements.

More than 300 companies from approximately 20 countries worldwide, including Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, China, India, Canada, Russia and Switzerland, bring to the three-day event their latest solutions for safety, observation and surveillance; criminal investigation and detection of narcotics; and explosive protection and disposal; alongside equipment for traffic control and road safety as well as for first aid and rescue.

In the framework of the event, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to attend the Putrajaya International Security Dialogue and meet with Deputy Prime Minister Hamidi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Alwi Haji Ibrahim, and Inspector-General of Royal Malaysia Police Khalid Abu Bakar.
