Singapore conducts air defence exercise

The Singapore Minister of Defence announced on November 28 that the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) conducted an air defence exercise entitled "Exercise Vigilant Shield 2016" on November 28.

The exercise demonstrated the Air Defence Task Force's capacity in responding to potential air threats, with a 24/7 connected air defence system.

It drew the participation of 400 RSAF personnel as well as F-15SG fighter aircraft, AH-64D Apache helicopter, I-HAWK, SPYDER and RBS-70 Ground-Based Air Defence systems, said the ministry.

Speaking at the event, Singapore Chief of Air Force Major-General Mervyn Tan stressed that the successful conduct of this exercise reflects RSAF's networked air defence system and tight inter-agency coordination.
