Seminar discusses parliamentary libraries

(VOV) - Cadres from the National Assembly (NA) Office along with international experts and other representatives from relevant agencies gathered for a seminar in Hanoi on October 11 to share their experiences in building and operating a parliamentary library.

The event, themed “Parliamentary Libraries: International Experiences” was co-organised by the Vietnamese National Assembly Office and the Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation.

Doctor Nguyen Si Dung, deputy head of the NA Office, said that building a NA library is essential to meet the growing demands for information from NA deputies. This would improve the quality of information and promote the dissemination of references and other documents. It would also help the NA’s administrative machinery run in a more effective and modern manner.

At the seminar, experts from the Republic of Korea and Australia explained the intrinsic relationship between legislative research services and the library.

Proposals put forward at the event will also help ensure that the Vietnamese NA Library project will improve the quality of information available to NA deputies.
