Vietnam will organise an artistic exhibition at the next World Economic Forum (WEF) to provide other countries with more information about its economic, political, cultural and artistic activities.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, who attended the forum, said about Vietnam’s contributions to the WEF’s success this in an interview granted to a VOV reporter.

VOV: As head of the Vietnamese delegation to this year’s WEF, can you talk about the outcomes of the forum?

Mr. Nhan: The 41st WEF in Davos was attended by 2,500 delegates from all over the world, including 35 national leaders and more than 1,400 group executives. Vietnam has always sent a delegation to the forum lead by the PM or Deputy PM,.

At this year’s forum, the Vietnamese delegation took part in 29 events, including meetings with leaders of countries and organizations that have close relationships with Vietnam. Among them were the Chief of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Johann Schneider Ammann; Russian First Deputy Premier, Shuvalov Igor Ivanovivh; WEF Executive Chairman, Klaus Schwab; and President of the Deutsche BundesBank, Axel A Weber.

The Vietnamese delegation also attended five seminars related to major fields including “building a new economic model in the post-crisis period”, “assessing the current situation and forecasting economic potential in the future”, and “developing agriculture in the current situation”.

Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan
By attending the WEF, Vietnam achieved three of its goals. First, we gained access to up-to-date information about the current economic situation and a forecast for the future from world leaders and scientists. Second, we had the opportunity to strengthen ties with other nations and major businesses from all over the world. Finally, we had the chance to share our experiences and inform international friends, particularly delegates at the forum about the current situation in Vietnam and development plan adopted by the 11th National Party Congress.

VOV: What were Vietnam’s contributions to this year’s forum?

Mr. Nhan: Vietnam’s participation at the WEF is one of the contributions and the WEF Chairmen said they hoped Vietnam will continue to send delegations to upcoming forums.

The Vietnamese delegation also took the initiative to participate several important events such as a seminar on agriculture, a three-hour event attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Vietnam’s presentation at the seminar, under the theme “promoting sustainable product development with the participation of businesses, state, and farmers”, drew the attention of many delegations. They all considered it a good model and hope Vietnam will popularize it in the future.

Vietnam’s ideas were appreciated by all the delegates at separate discussions with world leaders.

Other national leaders also showed great interest in learning how Vietnam controls inflation and they were delighted at Vietnam’s successful organization of the 11th National Party Congress which affirmed the country’s sustainable economic growth.

In addition to economic growth, we emphasized that Vietnam attaches great importance to social progress, comprehensive integration, and promoting democracy.
