The Canadian Consulate on June 19 offered more than US$4,8 million to build a physiotherapy centre in Ho Chi Minh City for disabled children.

The centre will be built for the Thien Phuoc Disabled Children Sponsoring Camp in Cu Chi outlying district.

The donation was made by friends of Canadian Consul General Sanjeev Chowdhury after the Government recently awarded him a Peace and Friendship Medal.

The Canadian Consulate has raised an additional US$18,875 for the camp in the last two years.

The new centre, to be completed by the end of July, will bear the name The Sanjeev Chowdhury Physiotherapy Centre for Thien Phuoc in recognition of Mr Chowdhury’s strong support for the Thien Phuoc camp during his three-year term as Canadian Consul General in HCM City.
