French photographer Regis Arrighi is displaying his photos of daily life in Vietnam at an exhibition which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on September 17.

At the “Sourires de Saigon” (Saigon Smile) exhibition, which will last until September 25, Arrighi’s 42 black and white photos feature common people such as ice cream vendors, small traders and barbers going about their business at the street, corners or in the open-air markets.

Arrighi who was born in Corsica first came to Vietnam in 2004 with a Vietnamese-French friend. The Vietnamese people’s warm-hearted smiles and hand-waving made him decide to stay in the south for three weeks to capture the Vietnamese “sourires” (smiles).
