A 32-year-old man received a free kidney transplant at a polyclinic in the central Da Nang city on March 28, the first kidney transplant ever conducted there.
The donor is his 44-year-old sister.
Vietnamese surgeons, assisted by experts from a viscera transplant centre, Erasme, in Belgium, removed a left kidney of the donor and transplanted it into the recipient.
The patient has shown signs of recovery after a four-hour operation.
