The cream of the Japanese movie scene will hit Vietnamese screens as the Japanese Film Festival opens in the capital from October 10-14 and Hai Phong port city from 17-21.

The event, to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties, between the two countries, is being co-organised by the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam – Japan Human Resources Co-operation Centre (VJCC), Mitsui Ltd Company and the Cultural Exchange Centre.

 

The films are a variety of Japanese favourites including the Sign of Love, Doraemon Movie: Nobita’s Dinosaur, Hana (Flower), My Grandpa, Pingpong Bath Station, Free and Easy 17, Fancy Dance and Captain Harlock in Arcadia. All the films have English subtitles.

 

During the film festival, a seminar by Cultural Ambassador Doraemon will be held in the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi on October 11.

 

Free tickets are available from October 3 at the Cultural Exchange Centre, 27 Quang Trung Street, Hanoi and May 1 Cinema, 55 Hoang Van Thu Street and Cinema Centre, 111 Tran Phu Street, Hai Phong.
