Vietnamese citizen honoured in RoK
(VOV) - The Republic of Korea’s (RoK) joint venture S-Oil has honoured Vietnamese crewman Tran Dinh Tam, nominating him as one of 2012’s bravest citizens.
The announcement was made at a ceremony in Seoul on December 21 awarding 19 outstanding citizens, including Tam, in the presence of Counselor Nguyen Hai Nam. Nam is also head of the Vietnamese labour management board in the RoK.

The RoK’s National Police Agency (NPA) and Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW) compiled the shortlist of the year’s bravest citizens before the awards were finalised by relevant experts.
Tam, from the northern port city of Haiphong, is currently working as a crewman in Jeolla province’s Mokpo city.
On February 23 this year, he saved a 76-year old Korean tourist from drowning after the older man fell into the sea.
