The France-Vietnam Friendship Association, in coordination with the Centre for Vietnam Information and Data (CID-Vietnam) and French association Friends of the East, held talks on France-Vietnam relations in Paris on June 12.

Present at the talks were the director of CID-Vietnam, French historian Alain Russio, and many French and Vietnamese people living and working in France.

Mr Russio, who is studying the history of Indochina in general and Vietnam in particular, briefed participants on some important historical periods of Vietnam, particularly the resistance wars against French colonialists and American imperialists. Vietnam has made world’s renowned victories, such as the August Revolution, and the Dien Bien Phu and Spring 1975 historic victories.

Since National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975), the country has been implementing the construction and development process, overcoming a number of difficulties. Thanks to such great efforts, the country has obtained significant achievements in the renewal process and affirmed its position and role in the global arena.

Together with its rapid development, relations between France and Vietnam have been strengthened, Mr Russio noted.

The talks helped French friends gain a further understanding of Vietnam’s history and development, as well as the friendship between the two countries.
