Vietnamese General Consul in San Francisco, Le Quoc Hung has met with the mayors of Oakland and Berkeley cities of California state to discuss cooperation with these cities.

Visiting Oakland’s mayor Ron Dellums, the Vietnamese representative expressed wish to enhance ties between Vietnam in general, and Da nang city – the sister city of Oakland - in particular, with California.

The two sides talked about ways to develop cooperative ties in investment, trade, culture, education and training between Oakland and Vietnam’s port cities of Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang.

The Oakland mayor highlighted the Vietnamese diplomat’s idea of exchanging working delegations to boost the two sides’ cooperation in investment and trade.

He suggested the seaport cities share experiences and join efforts to fully tap their potential for mutual development.

General Consul Hung conveyed the Danang authorities’ invitation to the Oakland mayor to visit Vietnam and the mayor accepted the invitation with pleasure.

Earlier, Mr Hung met with mayor Tom Bates of Berkeley city, which is known for its prestigious university, to discuss issues of common concern, including cooperation in education and training.
