The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) test-fired a number of missiles early Wednesday, but none of these missiles were identified as the new Taepodong 2 long-range missile. However, the situation on the Korean Peninsular has become tense.

According to the Japanese Government, the DPRK launched three missiles at 3:30am local time on Wednesday. All these missiles fell safely into the Sea of Japan. At present, the Japanese Government is intensifying air defense and sea protection forces in the above area, as Japan considers this a serious threat.

In an urgent press briefing on Wednesday morning, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said Tokyo "strongly protested" the move by Pyongyang.

"This is a grave threat to peace and stability not only of Japan but also of international society," he said.

According to Japanese experts, these missiles did not include the Taepodong 2 long-range missile. However, the situation on the Korean Peninsular has become tense.
