The living conditions of K'Ho ethnic minority people in Central Highlands Lam Dong province have remarkably improved in recent years thanks to the Government's local socio-economic development assistance.

Hunger and poverty have been alleviated step-by-step in Gung Re commune, Di Linh district, where more than 60 percent of the population are K'Ho people.
K'Ho lives are now rather secure, with their stable annual household incomes of VND30 million from coffee and rice cultivation.

In parallel with the economic development, local authorities in Gung Re commune, particularly in K'Long Trao, Hang Lang and Dinh Thuong hamlets, which house nearly 700 K'Ho Buddhist followers, have assisted inhabitants in maintaining a fine traditional culture and upholding Buddhist Dharma to build a peaceful and prosperous life.

K'Riu, village patriarch of Dinh Thuong hamlet, said "the government has created favourable conditions for people's religious practice. I am Vietnamese, follow the Party and Uncle Ho and Buddha’s teachings to live a better life in harmony with others, and set an example for my descendants."

Discord amongst the K'Ho Buddhist community has not occurred for many years; the people have worked together to develop economy, education and culture. Through 2006, K'Long Trao and Dinh Thuong hamlets have sent 23 K'Ho people to universities and colleges.
