VAS starts construction of new campuses in Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) has officially started the construction of Sala Mega Campus in District 2 and Riverside Mega Campus in District 7.

Sala Mega Campus has more than 7,000sq.m reserved for greenery, playgrounds, and swimming pools
Located in large-scale residential areas, these are multi-level schools from kindergarten to high school with a capacity of accommodating nearly 2,000 students per campus. The two campuses are expected to be operational from the 2018-2019 school year to meet the increasing demand to enroll at VAS in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sala and Riverside mega campuses are the first projects in VAS' expansion strategy after receiving investment from world-leading financial institution TPG in early 2017, bringing the number of VAS campuses to nine in the main districts of the city.

Sala Mega Campus is the first VAS campus to apply 5-star luxury design
Following the success of Garden Hills Mega Campus in Go Vap in the 2016-2017 school year (capacity of 1,300-2,000 students after a year), VAS is a pioneer in bringing the “green architecture” trend into the construction and development of new campuses.

At the Sala and Riverside mega campuses, VAS focuses on interior design and advanced facilities to provide students and teachers with a comfortable, modern, and friendly learning and teaching environment. In addition, VAS spends a large part of campus space on “green” outdoor areas that help students relax, exercise, and develop physically.

Sala Mega Campus is located in Thu Thiem New Residential Area in District 2, bordering the centre of District 1. With an area of nearly 20,000 square metres and a construction density of only 30 per cent, Sala Mega Campus has more than 7,000sq.m of land for greenery, playgrounds, and swimming pools.

The project consists of five levels with 91 classrooms arranged logically. This is the second VAS project by famous architect Nguyen Dinh Gioi from Nha Dan Design Construction Company Limited. This is also the first campus to apply a 5-star luxury design.

The second campus—Riverside Mega Campus—is located in the residential area of Cityland Riverside in District 7 on a total area of over 11,000sq.m. A significant portion of this land area was reserved for green spaces and outdoor parks. The functional rooms are allocated in five levels, boasting well-equipped information technology labs, experiment rooms, libraries, cooking halls, music rooms, and multifunctional sports areas.

"VAS is growing at a fast and sustainable rate with the number of new students increasing by nearly 30 per cent annually from kindergarten to high school," said Marcel van Miert, VAS executive chairman. “In District 7, VAS has the well-functioning Sunrise campuses, which are highly appreciated by parents and now have a maximum capacity of nearly 2,000 students. The construction of the new Sala and Riverside mega campuses will meet the growing demand of the increasing number of students wishing to participate in the Cambridge International Programme and the National Programme at a quality institution in District 7, District 2, and Southeast Saigon."

"Although located in highly competitive areas, I believe that with nearly 15 years of experience, our prestige and knack for providing the highest quality bilingual education in Ho Chi Minh City, VAS Sala and Riverside mega campuses are still the best choice for parents and students, thanks to the modern environment, international standard curriculum, and competitive tuition fees," Miert added.
