The Hanoi Women’s Union on March 4 organized a ceremony to mark the 97th International Women’s Day (March 8) and the 1967th anniversary of an uprising led by the Trung Sisters against Chinese aggressors.

Women leaders from the Vietnam Women's Union Central Committee and more than 500 female Hanoians attended the meeting.


Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women’s Union, To Yen Khanh, delivered a speech to review the history of the international women’s day and the great significance of the uprising led by the Trung Sisters in the struggle for national construction and defence. Over the past decades, with imbued with the fighting spirit of the Trung Sisters and women in the world, generations of Vietnamese women have always tried their best to contribute to the cause of national construction and development.


As a pioneering unit, the Hanoi Women’s Union has actively encouraged women to engage in many emulation movements to fulfill socio-economic tasks in localities. Notably among such movements are “Drug prevention from families”, “For a clean environment, Hanoians women, do not dump garbage and waste in public places" and “Hanoians woman study and work for their civilized, happy families” which have involved millions of women and other people.
