The Vietnamese men's team has won a silver medal at the second Mind Sports Games' Chinese chess competition in France.

After nine rounds, Nguyen Hoang Lam and Nguyen Thanh Bao finished in sixth and eighth positions, enough for them to stand second on the ranking table.

On the women's side, Vietnamese player Cao Phuong Thanh came in second.

The Chinese team dominated the event, grabbing all three medals in the individual class.

The tournament, which ends on August 23, features the so-called "mind sports" of bridge, chess, draughts (checkers), go (weiqi) and Chinese chess.

In the first competition four years ago, the team came home with one silver and two bronze medals.
