Getting EU clean tech into Vietnam

(VOV) -More than 30 EU companies participated in a seminar sponsored by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on June 19 in HCM City proposing assistance for the nation’s businesses to implement cleaner technologies.

Mr Nicholas Merriman, director of sales for the Andritz group, said his company is a leading provider of machinery, equipment and services for hydropower plants, the pulp and paper industry, and the metal and steel industries.

Merriman said his company is actively pursuing long-term business partners to cooperate in the transfer of clean technology to create a solid foundation for putting the nation on the path to sustainable development.

The EU companies, specializing inair pollution control, energy saving, waste water and waste treatment, expressed their solid commitment to assisting Vietnam’s businesses with installing environmentally friendly solutions.

According to the VCCI branch in HCM City, Vietnam became an important trade partner of the EU and the fifth largest trade partner in ASEAN with bilateral trade revenue of EUR28 billion last year. EU businesses have so far invested in 1,810 projects in Vietnam.
